At the heart of my practice is a commitment to evidence-based care that is thoughtfully tailored to meet the unique needs of each child and family. All treatment recommendations are grounded in current research and adapted to fit each child’s developmental stage, strengths, challenges, and family context. My goal is to work collaboratively with families to create personalized, practical, and effective plans that support meaningful growth and lasting change.

Evaluation & Treatment Planning

This service is designed to build a comprehensive understanding of your child’s needs and guide the development of a personalized, evidence-based treatment plan. The process typically includes:

  • Parent Consultation: An in-depth conversation to explore your concerns, your child’s history, and your family’s goals.

  • Child and Family Observation: Typically includes a family observation and/or individual meeting(s) with your child to better understand their emotional, behavioral, and social functioning.

  • Objective Measures: Standardized, evidence-based tools are used to gather additional data and clarify areas of need.

  • Provider Collaboration (as needed): With your permission, I can consult with your child’s school, psychiatrist, or other care providers to ensure a coordinated and well-informed approach.

  • Personalized Treatment Plan: You’ll receive a clear, practical, and research-informed plan tailored to your child’s strengths and challenges and aligned with your family’s values.

This service offers individualized guidance and coaching to help families navigate challenges and strengthen relationships. Whether you’re facing behavioral concerns, significant anxiety, or family stress, I provide practical, evidence-based strategies to enhance the parent-child connection, build distress tolerance, and support healthy child development.

  • A highly effective treatment for children ages 2-7 who struggle with frequent tantrums, aggression, defiance, or emotion regulation difficulties. PCIT strengthens the parent-child relationship and improves child behavior through live coaching of parenting skills. Sessions include parent(s) and child. More info about PCIT can be found here.

  • An adaptation of PCIT designed for children ages 7–10 with behavior challenges. It maintains the core principles of PCIT while incorporating developmentally appropriate strategies for older children. Dr. Harvey is a co-author of the treatment manual for PCIT-OC.

  • An adaptation of PCIT for children who struggle to speak in certain situations. PCIT-SM combines behavioral techniques and caregiver coaching to support gradual increases in verbal communication.

  • A parent-based treatment for children and adolescents with anxiety and OCD. Instead of working directly with the child, SPACE focuses on coaching parents to reduce accommodations to anxiety and to support their child’s independence and resilience.

  • A structured, parent-based treatment that teaches parents strategies to effectively manage challenging behaviors, reinforce positive behaviors, and create consistent routines and expectations at home.

“We are so grateful for the incredible experience we had with Dr. Harvey through PCIT... The changes have been remarkable—our home is calmer, our child’s behavior at school has significantly improved, and the relationship with his younger sibling is so much more positive. What once felt overwhelming, now feels manageable, and we feel more connected as a family.”
